Share it and help shape the future of Quick Draft
Left-hand mode & Add taking photos in Shortcuts
Thank you all. Quick Draft is just amazing. I like it so much that I hope it gets even better. I am left-handed and usually use my phone with my left hand, so I hope features like attaching files, photos, taking pictures, and scanning can be on the left side of the screen. My usual habit is: tap → open the camera directly to take a photo → then edit the text. If I want to take a photo first and then edit, I can use the desktop widget. But the widget icon is too big, taking up the space of four app icons. And in the shortcut commands, there are only options to open the app, enter text, or record audio, with no option to take a photo.
Write to future daily note
It would be great to be able to append to a daily note other than today's, like the “which day” option in the Obsidian QuickAdd plugin. You could set a fixed number of days from today or have a date picker each time. I would use this to jot down a note in the evening about something I want to remember tomorrow.
Add MD table support
To be able to quick draft save a new table in the same way you add and save lists.
Save attachments to a different folder
Save attachments to a different folder other than where the note body is saved, i.e. to folder “110-Attachments” or some other configurable location.
Set dictation language.
For voice notes, they sometimes get auto-detected as the wrong language. I always speak in the same language for my voice notes, so don't need auto-detect. Forcing English would mean I can do recordings with confidence. If I don't know if it's done it correctly, I have to check at the time of recording, which really interrupts the ‘quick note’ vibes and usability
Append to note instead of new template/only tag once
Since using a template inserts the template every single time, I was wondering if there could be a way for Quick Drafts to create a note from a template THEN append to the end of a note for the day if it exists (without re-adding the entire template block each time).
Can't add destinations
Hi, experiencing a weird bug where trying to pick a destination doesn't show me my files but just one file called localization.strings. iOS 26.5, iPhone 13 mini, Quick Draft 1.5.6. Please see linked video demonstrating issue. https://files.catbox.moe/9g4rq6.mp4 Any other reports of this? not sure what to do
{{content}} v {{title}}
I’ve got two Routes/Destinations setup for task management, one for Work and other other Personal. They’re a simple one-line capture of the task, routed and tagged appropriately so i can filter inside Obsidian. I’m trying to build a standard “note capture” Route/Destination, but I cannot seem to get it to work. It doesn’t replace {{title}} with the first line of the text I entered. Let me rephrase…it uses the first line as the filename, which is great. I have a metadata field called “Name” whereby the filename/title is captured here as well. AND I have a Header 1 at the beginning of the file so that it’s big and bold when I reopen the file in the future. It’s those latter two which don’t replace {{title}} with anything. Is this meant to be?
Speech to Text API
Hello! Eleven Labs’ STT is the best on the market, hands down. Could you add support for Eleven Labs STT API in Quick Draft, and give the user the possibility to bring their own API key? Long-pressing the microphone button could switch it between recording or transcribing (STT). So anyone with an API key could get premium STT for super cheap. This would be an awesome feature!!! (STT coming with gboard is really poor and makes so many mistakes). Thank you very much and kind regards!
Add a note/comment field when sharing via the share sheet
When I share something to Quick Draft from the share sheet (a link, image, text), I’d love an optional note/comment block to add my own context before it’s captured. So I can jot down why I’m saving it or a quick thought, & have that note land alongside the shared content in Obsidian. Right now I can’t annotate what I’m sharing at the moment I share it. Would make my captures way more useful. Thanks 🙏
Use the native iOS document scanner (cropped, OCR'd PDF)
Love the app! Right now the built-in document scanner just takes a photo, same as the photo option. I’d love it to use the native iOS document scanner (VisionKit) instead, so a scan comes in already cropped & perspective-corrected (auto edge detection), multi-page into one file, attached as a real PDF, and OCR’d so the text is searchable (iOS has text recognition built in). Basically a scanned receipt or letter lands cropped right & searchable, not as a raw photo. Thanks 🙏
Export & restore my configuration (backup)
Love the app! I’d really like a way to export & re-import my whole configuration: routes, destinations, templates & toolbar. The reason: when I do a clean macOS install I don’t want to rebuild all my routes & destinations by hand. An export file I can save & restore later (or move to another Mac) would be perfect. Thanks for the great work 🙏
Drag & drop files into Quick Draft
Really great app! I’d love to drag & drop files straight into Quick Draft, drop one or more from Finder (or another app) right onto the draft to attach or capture them. I saw multi-file attach is already planned, this would be the drag & drop way to get them in. Would make capturing way faster for me. Thanks 🙏
Remove Everything EXCEPT the URL
When sharing a link from certain apps, they can include additional text alongside the URL (“Look at what I found on…”, etc.). Would be great to essentially have the opposite functionality of the current “Remove URLs” option, so the only thing you’re actually keeping is the URL. Thanks! Great app!
New icon suggestion!
Hey, awesome app! I only have a minor gripe, as a graphic designer: I think the icon could use some personality and look a bit less generic! Also, it’s not optically centered, which bothers me a little :) Instead of just complaining though, I came up with something - see attached image. You can see on the left the bare icon, and on the right an example on how to center it, for instance in a squircle for balanced look. This proposition I think illustrates the concept of a quick draft a lot better: we keep the general idea of a square with something going into it (as in, putting content into the note), but we replace the arrow with a pencil, and evoke the idea of a draft with dashed lines. On top of that I added the idea of quickness with some speed lines I have also picked the purple shade directly from Obsidian’s website for the icon to be more recognizable to obsidian users and to look more harmonious when put side by side with the Obsidian app. If you like it I can provide the source files / SVG for you to implement - all for free of course, I’ll just be happy with my homescreen having a better looking icon haha. If you like the concept and would like some modifications I’ll be happy to do them as well. Hope you like it, have a nice day!
Hey!! Two more features:
1-get current location (GPS coordinates) 2-attach more than one file (photos, documents, etc) Congrats on this lovely app!
Add Under Callout
Basically the same setting as “Add under section," but with callouts instead of "#” sections
Keep original name of attachments
For now attached file is renamed to something like 100008895.webp. It would be more convenient to keep original “human” name, or at least to have an option to set it up. Thank you in advance!
Close on save
Loving this app. One option is like to see is to have the app close after saving a quick draft
